SHENG-FANG CHIU | RECORDER PLAYER
Born in Taichung, Taiwan. She was drawn and inspired by early music while studying recorder with Michael Posch at Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. She later pursued further studies in recorder with Anna Januj, and in Baroque flute with Marcello Gatti at University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy".
Her particular passion for chamber music earned her rich experiences working with diverse chamber ensembles. In 2011, her ensemble was awarded first prize at the “La Stravaganza - Concurs de Musica Barroca” competition. Her solo, and chamber music performances has won her and her co-founded ensemble, Telemann & Co., winner-prize at the “Fidelio-Wettbewerb” in 2010 and 2012. She has also recorded with ORF Austrian National Radio, and RTV Slovenia National Radio.
As a soloist, she performs frequently throughout Austria, Germany and Switzland, and has played at international festivals, including opening concert of the 2014 Tartini Festival in Piran, opening concert of "Bach for All" Festival Prague etc. As a chamber musician she collaborates regulary with various ensembles and orchestras.
She has given master classes in Taiwan, Austria, Germany, South Korea, Poland, Czech Republic and Iran. Since 2014, she serves as teaching assistant to Michael Posch at Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, and since 2017 teaching at University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig.
